One option that I would like to have in the game is:
"The hero stops moving when he reveals a point of interest hidden under the fog of war."

Start 0Test14.MP2.
Select a destination eight movement points east.

Click to accept the default path.
The blue hero will move to the destination without stopping and position himself near the opposing green hero.

Now with the option enabled, as soon as the green enemy hero is revealed, the blue hero stops his progress and waits for a new order.

The blue player can then decide to send his hero south, away from the enemy green hero.
He then selects a destination eight movement points south.

As soon as the ore mine is revealed, the blue hero stops his progress and waits for a new order.

This operation can be applied to all kinds of adventure map objects, opposing heroes, mines, towns, etc.
The player can validate only the points of interest that he wishes in an adjustment file (example an .xml file).

I would say "maybe" for the enemy hero/town/teleportaion_gate. [Beyond 1.0] The Hero Stops Upon Discovery 3976329685
(I saw the same system on another old game called "M.A.X.: Mechanized Assault & eXploration", that was quite effective, but each ennemi unit there was able to move a lot compared to Heroes 2's heroes. [Beyond 1.0] The Hero Stops Upon Discovery 1675887764 )

But on a normal map, the hero will stop very often if it must stop at each new artefact/monster/location discovered. [Beyond 1.0] The Hero Stops Upon Discovery 3293758093 So for me it's a no. [Beyond 1.0] The Hero Stops Upon Discovery 3293758093

The user could select the points of interest in the adjustment file and validate the triggering of the option only for the enemy heroes, for example. Smile

I'm not sure to, that most of players would use this option.
Freezing, while enemy hero makes sense for me...
But actually, finding a hero on a world map was always a challenge for a player in this game. Like in real battles: if you haven't noticed enemy hidden behind the mountains, trees etc. - it's your own problem.
So implementing this feature is a question for me...

It is an option that I will use personally, it's a game of strategy and it is certainly possible to stop the movement of the hero by clicking with the mouse, but it becomes a "game of reflexes" in this case.
This is an original game UI issue for me.

Not to mention that in the presented example the hero's vision area is quite large and it goes beyond what it is possible to see in the display zone of the adventure map when the game is in its native resolution of 640 by 480 pixels, which further amplifies the problem.
