Seen this posted in some of the HoMM communities. Silence of the Siren appears to be a HoMM like game in a scifi universe which is a very cool idea! I remember someone did a scifi version of HoMM called Spaceforce Captains years ago but it wasn't all that great. Hopefully these guys do a better job! The screenshots look pretty cool although I worry about it looking a bit too 'flash game art - ish' (especially battle screen creatures), however the videos show that they're using the hybrid 2D pixel art in a 3D world 'Songs of Conquest' style trick that looks much cooler in motion! Have wishlisted!
KEY ELEMENTS - Explore a rich sci-fi world and discover secrets of a lost civilization - Collect powerful artifacts, secure important resources, upgrade your bases and hire the strongest units - Level-up your commanders and crush your opponents in exciting turn-based battles - Take control over several different species and factions - Old-school strategy game with modern controls and intuitive UI

Oooh.. new dev diary update has revealed their town screens.. sure enough they're doing that HoMM style too. Nice to see creatures doing stuff outside dwellings. I loved that in HoMM1 and was sad that it didn't continue through the series (other than some dragons in one HoMM3 town) as it brings a lot of life to the towns. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2147380/view/3708194360588795642

On the one hand, I'm very happy that finally there is some accessible turn-based strategy, but in sci-fi flavour (instead of constantly used fantasy). I like what I saw so far, even if its heavily inspired by HoM&M3 (good, but not my favourite entry in the series ).
On the other hand, it's very far from being released even in Early Access (and from what I've read on discord, they're going release EA version only on Steam, so folks like me, who prefer to buy it on GOG, will have to wait even longer). Not to mention, that after recent playing in AoW: Planetfall, my requirements for this kind of games are a bit higher than earlier But I'm still waiting for this one, despite those doubts.

I think there's a considerable budget difference between AoW4 and these little indie HoMM rip/spin offs like this and SoC. AoW series has gone off in a much more 4X Master of Magic direction over the years instead of the simple classic HoMM formula so personally I treat them differently and try not to compare.
They've put out another dev diary update. This time talking about unit upgrades (using their space rat faction as an example) which appears to be handled the same as HoMM.

Sure, not expecting fancy things in terms of technical stuff (aware, that it costs a lot), but I was rather referring to greatly designed game, in terms of mechanics, developing heroes (and even normal units) etc. Accessible, but also giving a bit more depth and increasing fun from playing it.
That being said, there are no big "red lights" for me at the moment... But I'm still a bit worried, if this game won't share the fate of Countryball Heroes - other "Heroes-style" game, which looked fun on paper, but when I finally could play it, it turned out that it was rather mediocre game, which was trying to have both "something new" and "faithfully" emulate the original, but in practice didn't do well any of those things.

Looks like things are coming along nicely.. it's nice to see the map and also the base (castle) screen in motion. As expected all base management stuff is pretty much what we know and love in HoMM games.
And a 10min gameplay video too.. I was a bit worried about the graphics before, so am pleased to see they're pulling all the tricks (kinda like Songs of Conquest did) to make the cartoonish assets come to life with animation, lighting and zoom/panning effects (even in the bases).

New dev diary and video! I've said before how I love how they've done the HoMM1 like creatures standing in front of their dwellings system, but now I see & love even more that they also disappear after you hire them! The decoration becomes useful animating reminders of creatures to hire.
