Feature requests!

I know that you have some ideas in mind. Please post them here and we will bring them to life.

I'm not entirely certain where to put this, I can't remember the section where I'd seen you all talking about what kind of board sections to feature on this site, but after seeing you mention a 'Fanfiction' section, I was wondering if perhaps including a section for role-playing would be a good idea. I've seen entire sites based just on that, but I've also occasionally seen it included as a board section in forums.

It's a pretty popular past-time, and it might be a neat idea to include here. It'll give people a different subject to role-play with, besides the wolf and Warrior cat theme I usually see.

I'm totally into making a section for FRPG players, although I don't yet see enough people to start this kind of endeavour, and I never played them myself.

Alright, I will make the respective subforums. Thing is, since Russian HoMM community is very strong I was easily able to find people who considered making fan fiction a good idea, while I don't have such guarantees for the English-speaking heroes. We will see though, the community has just started its way.

You do have a point; the addition of something may well be pointless. I don't know if a lot of English-speakers are interested in Heroes II, let alone know about it. I was hoping that maybe it would catch the eye of some people searching the internet and create an interest because it was something of the fantasy genre.

If you still want to keep it up there, however, I will have to say that you will need two other things: Additional rules for the role-players, and a space for them to include character information. The former can be easily stated on the main board (I've had plenty of experience with roleplaying, so I can let you know which rules should probably be included), and information for player characters...... might be able to be included on profile information, as a kind of tiny space just for character info.

This is a lot more of a hassle than anything though, now that I think about it. It would probably be a better idea to drop the whole thing than to work on something that may not get any attention.

We can do all that, although I'm a bit of a slacker since I never played FRPGs. I seriously thought that the rules are pre-defined by the game master.

I think game masters are only there when you play board game RPGs such as Dungeons And Dragons. Forum RPGs usually have a page with a set of rules set that help the role-players follow a good code of conduct, so that the game can be enjoyable, such as not allowing the creation of a god-like perfect character, or stating that people can't control characters owned by other people in the game, to name a few. Those restrictions may sound like they're so obvious that they'd be pointless, but some people have been known to try things like that.

In the place I saw with roleplaying on the forums, a person would start a new topic, introduce the setting of the story on the first post, then they would go on from there. All you would need are rules, page spaces, and interested role-players, and they can take care of the rest.

I'm FRPG's player so I can tell that the most problematic thing for this forum is that the players are not from one country. Yes, we can say that English could be the language of the game but as you said earlier there are few people who can use it fluently. If there was some FRPG in Enroth in polish I think I would play there - FRPG is a game where we should know language to write great adventure with beautiful language.
Secondly, you can do FRPG with Game Master (who can do some adventures for players) and you can also give some freedom do players, for example Game Master playing with two or free players and the rest have to do something by themselves - they can have conversation with each other and so on. The main events are guiding by Game Master, the rest can be done by players.
The last things are system and rules. You can do FRPG based only on storytelling or you can provide some statistics, magic points, et cetera. Storytelling is good but not for someone who wants to develop his character like in cRPG or Heroes (;
This idea is great, I'd love to play in FRPG in Enroth or other Might & Magic universe but as I said, there are some problems. I hope we can do something together about it

What I would like to see (ideally) is a separate active FRPG board for every language. Of course it's hard to obtain because there are currently too less of us. In general, however, Russian and Polish communities seem to have the most passion towards MM and Heroes games, with the rest placed in English category. The development of this forum is ongoing and the preferences of its population (i.e. you, dear Enrothians) may very well influence on its structure and standards. So that if we will be able to collect enough concerned members of the same language, we can easily arrange a comfortable place for them to chat using their mother tongue.

Since I am Russian, it was easier for me to settle the Russian Tavern, so I was already able to find some fan fiction writers with nice materials to fill the respective forum section. I guess I will have to work together with Kwasowa Grota and Jaskinie Behemota to attract more Enrothians from Poland. I still must find time for Kwasowa Grota to fill its H2 info section.

And since I have neither experience in FRPGs nor time for playing myself, there can be some problems. Currently the active development of the FRPG sections depends considerably on the quantity of inspired people here. We can even make special ranks for FRPG masters with extended rights to make their work comfortable.

I still hope to attract one Russian FRPG team I know personally. That should be a good start; perhaps they will be able to consult me on some issues. Right now I know practically nothing about it and I am only able to assist by creating subforums and giving rights to people who know the mechanisms and are ready to arrange something in their FRPG board themselves.

Allowing the author of the topic make the rules to their story sounds fair. I think this should be put in as an introductory topic to the FRPG boards, maybe named simply, 'Introduction to the Enrothian FRPG'.

Basically, you could do something like this:

Welcome to the Forum of Enroth's FRPG board! Here are the basics to get your role-play started here:

If you create a topic for a new story, please specify the setting, and rules, in your first post. If you are joining in on someone else's story, please read, and follow, the rules they have placed.

......Something like that, for a start. Just so everyone gets the idea of how it's set up.

Instead of adding a section for character pages, you could prompt the role-player, in the introductory topic, to make sure that they introduce their character in their first post using said person. It'll make things a little easier for you to set up.


As for English speakers getting into the role-play thing..... That will be a problem, only because a lot of people in this country, and most other English-speaking countries, that I can think of are not really as interested Heroes of Might and Magic. But, there's nothing really that can be done about any of that until more members come along.

Sadly I can't set it for everyone by default, any visitor on the main page will see day/month but will not see the year.

Any plans to get SLL certified and go https? Browsers are starting to block old http address which means some people may think your site is dead when it's not. I've had to do my site and fix heaps of broken download links across various forums posts as people were sending me msgs saying they were dead when they weren't lol.

Lands of Enroth is hosted "by free" my internet access provider, and should be still online for 30 years. (once the President of this company dies, maybe deleting the free hosting service may be in the topic...)
Because it's free hosting, to reduce the need of admin, it is old version of php/sql/apache, with any "dangerous command" disabled. The http/SSL ability seems out of my range.

My research leads to an old news from 2018 :

saying that it is on the betatest, I guess it will take 10 years to come (so, 2028 maybe?), with an "everything updated" (php, sql, ssl, etc).

In another hand, my health/life do not allow me to write line of codes efficiently since few years.

No worries, yeah I was in a similar circumstance with my free hosting. I have no idea how to code or sort that sort of thing out my own but got lucky when my provider x10 hosting decided to allow SSL for their free members too. Sorry to hear you're unwell!

Not sure if the right place to ask, but how about the ability to change our 'favorite faction'? I wish to have mine changed from Necro to Warlock and I don't see it being possible anywhere at this moment.
