I will put here everything that i draw. Suggestions and requests are welcome. (my time is sometimes very limited but w'ell see what can i do.
(polish/english)

This is fortified village - grass and swamp versions, what can we do in it? Maybe learn some defense or trade...

First post your other images, so you have everything in one place!

3 suggestions that might work in SWmod:

1)bigger well. Maybe big enough to grant bonus spellpoints! Or maybe a desacated/abandoned and broken well, that only gives 25%

2)bigger fire, think it would look cool! Or maybe another variant, like fire in a firepit/barrel ?

3)a shrine of magic thought. I really like this one in original Heroes 3 artstyle. You can find it above the monolith entrances. Its basically a book in the wind! Cant copy the file right now, but hope you know what i mean.

As for what you posted now, I like these villages a lot! they make the map seem busy hehe

Hi Kantez,

some tips from me:

- Try to avoid drawing buildings without specific purpouse, it's easier to fit the building so it's purpose is known even before drawing than making good looking one and dont know what it can do.

- You should make them fit all types of terrain. So no grass because of desert/lava etc. Dirt is fine enough imo, or create separate ones for each terrain. It would be helpful to take screenshots of them (terrains) in map editor and then just place your work on top to see if it fits (also try to place other buildings next to it for style comparison).

- Use some outline, but it doesn't have to be always black, just a little darker (look at other dwellings for example at graphics thread).






You can try to draw school of magic (+1 for knowledge or power), because current one doesn't look good imo.

I have some idea: Idea
In homm 3 we had redwood obserwatory. But no redwood forest.









I coul'd make the special battlefield for it, inspired by the images below. (anyone recognize this old gem?)
That woul'd be something new.




If you like it, i will need grass or dirt forest battlefield assets. 1 hex of ground, some obstacle sprite and full background, then i will see what can i do.

Love those trees! I like the H3 observatory a lot mote than the H2 variant... peasent house looks cool!

Leaves color seems to don't fit to the grass theme, but on dirt or on its special sheet it shoul'd look good.

I dont like the idea of red-forest presented by you, it has too much copy and paste in it's looks and doesn't fit the style that much. Trees shouldn't be taller than mountains (though it's not a major problem) and colors should fit dirt and grass terrains if we would to even consider it at any point. Also spaces between trees seem too big.

Note that every object has passable and inpassable squares on it (and sometimes yellow, active one's like a mine for ex.)






PS Don't bother about shadows, you'll get them wrong anyway and it's no problem for the team.

This grid will be very helpful for my further works.
About redwood forest - what if i woul'd rescale it down to 2 squares, to fit the mountains. It can be recolored a little and whith more quality.

You have to make trees more diversified, both crowns and trunks. They also have to be matched to the grid on their bases. I think that they should stay that high, you shouldn't make them smaller, because then they no more look like a redwoods.

I checked how redwood look in real life, so i made more variations.


Crown color should stay like this, it fits both grass and dirt, for swamp i can make diffrent ones with hanging moss, mushrooms and other swamp stuff.

Pretty sure it needs intense HSBC treatment as well as changing the texture of tree bodies. Smile

Also, a nice option would be to check these near the already existing Heroes 2 trees. It could give a more clear idea what else to improve.

And lets back to the redwod forest for a moment - is mixed version worth to be further edited?
You know, some people like 1st version, other say the 2nd is good. I like both so i mixed them.
