A few days ago, I went through the thread of ideas on Discord.

Why not stick with the original AI for now (I noticed that the current AI in fheroes2 is "weak"), at least until version 1.0 and focus on the other issues (bugs, etc.), so that the game is a faithful copy of the original game (but without the original bugs).

The AI upgrades can be added later and I think the player should be able to activate them optionally.
Some players will definitely want to keep the original feel of the game and be able to come back to it if they wish after playing with a different and enhanced AI.
In this way, all options remain open. Smile

Also, the predictable way the AI play in Heroes 2 is also part of the fun of playing Heroes 2.
And in Impossible mode, it makes it easier to beat the AI when it has the upper hand in a poorly started game.

We don't have the original AI in fheroes2 at all. The current AI is even worse than you can imagine. What we're trying to build is something similar to it with obvious fixes to make AI not dumb for certain situations in the game.

This option is not available.

Think of this as building a new house. Even if you have all blueprints and plans for the old house it would require the same effort of getting all materials and putting it together. FHeroes2 is not a mod, but complete rewrite that doesn't share code with the original game. Although we know original algorithms, it's not something you can copy and paste in. Smile

So far, I haven't tested fheroes2 version 0.8 much to get a view of its AI.
I noticed that there were changes in behavior during the combats, but I haven't "analyzed" anything yet.

In the previous fheroes2 project, apart all the graphical issues, missing features, etc. the AI was already a big problem.
After the few games of the discovery, there wasn't much of a challenge in playing the game.
So players were going back to the good ol 'Heroes 2 which still holds up after all these years. Smile

The AI ​​in Heroes 2 is really fun to play. Wink
On the adventure map, the AI ​​heroes harass the human player throughout the game, constantly recapturing mines, attacking the weak heroes, if the AI ​​sees the opportunity to win the game, it does not hesitate one second and the player swings into the cage. Very Happy

During combat, the AI ​​is predictable, but this is also what makes its charm because the human player can thus defeat enemy armies much more powerful than his own and this is sometimes the only way to win a game when the AI players have more creatures and resources than the human player.
It can also happen that an AI hero destroys your magnificent army with a great blow of Armageddon, and the human player has to deploy treasure tricks to return to the same level of power that he has before.
In short, I find the AI ​​of Heroes 2 to be quite good.
And that's why I continue to play this game. Smile

I prefer the AI ​​of the adventure map in Heroes 2 to that of Heroes 3.
The AI ​​of the combats of Heroes 3 is a little better, but the combats of Heroes 3 seem endless especially with the possibility to make your troops wait.
The combats of Heroes 2 are fast and dynamic, it cuts and it bleeds all the time. Very Happy

Hello, @everyone.
Currently our almighty team is working on AI, to make it best-of-the-best. Smile
I believe, after all improvements, choosing the difficuilty of the map won't change simply an amount of resources and army AI gets, but overall behaviour on a world map and in the battles! So, choosing the "normal", "hard" or "expert" difficuilties will bring us as much close to the initial HoMM2 AI, as it can. I hope this won't ruin our gameplay experience and fun with it.
Also, I hope, that "impossible" mode would bring playing experience to more hardcore and exciting level!
I wish, changing the difficuilty level would completely alter gameplay on an every single map in this game. Smile
