| Hey, im so happy that this mod are being made! it takes me straight back to my childhood and cant wait til it gets released! the 'graphic discussion' thread really looks promising! I just had a thought, in the first heroes game, you could see the creatures at their dwellings in the townscreen, which made it more alive and 'cozy'. Maybe you could add it to your mod, but i dont know if it takes too much time to create? and just a quick question, do some of you have the 'blind'(spell) sound from heroes 2, so i can use it as text message for my phone? ps cool to see a dane involved in this, Sir Albe | |

| Greetings and welcome to the Forums of Enroth! I hope you will be able to find something for you here. You know, the concept of H1 townscreens where the creatures stood near the respective dwellings is not as simple to implement as it may seem. First, Heroes 1 townscreens are made of pure pixel art just like the creature miniatures, and thus it was much easier to place creatures without ruining the townscreen composition and overall graphic style. The landscape generators may have been probably used, but they don't change the whole picture. However, in Heroes 2 the townscreens are made with the heavy use of 3D modeling software, while the creatures are still made in Deluxe Paint and drawn by mouse clicks just like in Heroes 1. This brings major problems with keeping the overall graphic style, because the resulting townscreens look in another way, with different rules of image structure and more complex textures for the buildings. The H2 townscreens look much less cartoonish, more realistic style with sharp lighting. Some 2D treatment definitely had place right after, but still, it's a very obvious example of 3D renders in VGA of the beginning-middle of 1990s (see Might&Magic VI or Age of Empires 2). It is definitely not hand-drawn. The team had some experiments about the idea you suggest ( Uhm knows more as it was his draft), but in general I currently can't say if this is absolutely perfect for the official version of the release for it may require quite a lot of an effort. Yet, it will be still possible to customize some assets for yourself. ________________________ | |

| I was experimenting with a little versions of creatures and they definitely didn't fit. I think that they will have to be made from zero, but I will try this only after v0.8 release. | |

| yeah i just realized that after i did the thread. But i always wondered why 3do or ubisoft didn't put creatures or soldiers in the townscreens, as it adds a bit more charm. but thanks for your detailed answer Orzie! It shows how much you are into this!
and Uhm, i can see where you're coming from - it will take quite an efford! that little gobling on the bridge looks nice though.. just small details adds up to the bigger picture. i could see him sitting there, swinging his tiny little legs.

| Just a note - neither 3DO nor Ubisoft are developers. These are publishing companies and copyright holders.
The developer company which is responsible for the creation of Might and Magic franchise is New World Computing. ________________________

| Creatures must be bigger than natural if we can see them. Dont worry they are biggest than buildings. No another way. | |
