Yeah, it is about for 2 months now. I want to know this too, what is the mod status? Currently this forum is pretty much dead too.. Hope it will change
Subject: Re: H3SW General Discussion 2017-04-25, 08:31
I remember a 1-2 week period when I found new pixel art and discussion each day. When I woke up and came here I knew something new and exciting was waiting for me :d
I trust the team...i don't know when or what will happen the later (0.9 etc) versions, but I hope we will get the next version. Next week or next year, i will wait :d

I haven't heard much the latest weeks, but I continue to work on this to the extent I can. Unfortunately, I am not able to do the things that prevent us from reaching v0.8.

That's not a really good news to be honest. What about Orzie? Are there any reasonable progress to this mod what he reached this far which make sure this project is not dead?
I'm worried about this pretty long silence in the forums.

It's only 2 weeks of "inactivity"; everybody was so much active that they probably delayed real life stuff, and so we can guess they are doing real life things actually, there is not that much worry to get actually, imo. Summer is comming and it will make everybody active again!

The project is not dead of course, but I didn't have a spare hour for it in the last 2 months. End of the academic year takes its toll once again, plus lack of money which drove me to offer vocal lessons to earn a living.
DrSlash just got out of his education troubles and hopefully is returning to work starting from today. I sent him the latest Crossbowmen updates.

I am just having a break from modding and Heroes for a while But don't worry, sooner or later I will once again stick to our beloved pixels for a long hours. It's inevitable
I've finished repacking original creatures, so currently I will start repacking adventure map objects once again , but now with better shadows

Don't worry about the shadows if you don't have time for them. They are required for trees on the first place. Then come the mountains.

Guys, I'm glad everything is alright, so as long as you have ambitions, nothing can stop this project. If it's just the real life stuff, it's ok.
If I were have any skills to improve v0.8 in any kind of way, that'll be great. Even myself is uncertain about what I could be able to help with.

I am writing my last exam on 30th. I am going to implement a Knight townscreen in a next week. As for graphics - in my opinion we are ready to release v0.9 I will have to ask Orzie and Feanor how is going work with programming assets, but probably only hero specialties are left to do.

Wish you luck on your exam, Uhm! I personally passed my Ph.D. exam on physical chemistry yesterday and I'm proud to say that I'm free for development. The only note is that I'm leaving for summer festivals from 3rd to 11th of July.
What's even more important, is that feanor also has a month of free time, so I hope that he puts at least some of it to the final step of the development of the beta.
Concerning the programming, the most urgent aspects are final touches for the creatures, artifact effects and hero specialties. (and, of course, the standalone installer for the version) By the way, recently feanor finished the building upgrades so you can check them out.
(disregard the building icons and names, what's important is the building upgrades. we should probably do something with the Crypt, etc. - or leave it like that for the beta)

Hey guys, I started playing homm3 again... as it gets boring I started creating maps. If you need some help with mapmaking, not graphics, I might help. i dont wanna go into graphics now much, even though some sort of experience is always good to catch.

If Orzie, Uhm or Sir Albe does happen to know if map making will be possible in v0.8 then please, let us know below

The thing is: everyone can always try. We will make a section here on the forum in the Mapmaking Guild.
However, I must not encourage anyone to do anything for the beta (i.e. count that the map will be necessarily included as the official one). The reason for this is simple: I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings if the map is rejected. We really don't know anything about the level of the mapmaker until we see it in action. So, no promises ever.
It is also imperative that we don't give away viable mod data (such as Succession Wars.erm) before the release to anyone. I already had a conversation with robizeratul on the topic.
--
A mapmaker desperate enough to put his creative efforts in H3SW Map Editor must consider the following.
The mod is very much in progress. Numbers may (and most probably will) change. Wizard Level 3 is questionable. So is Wizard level 4. The artifact system is untested (ever) and has no analogs in the existing Heroes 3 mods. The magic system is expected to change drastically prior to v0.9-1.0 to a concept which is not yet to be announced. The secondary skill system may also be reworked to differ from a classic H3 system. The amount, diversity, functionality and variety of map objects may (and surely will) change. Anything I forgot to add.
In other words, a mapmaker must be ready to test, maintain and fix his work for a long time while the mod is still being developed. This task will become even harder if the mod will be updated more often than the mentioned v0.8, v0.9 and v1.0 milestones.
And even with all that, there is still no guarantee the mapmaker's work will be naturally included in the official map list of the mod, if such goal is to be ever pursued.

Okay, another matter.
I've came into contact with another mod group (Mod design team - making alternative units right now and I'm helping them) with some talented Polish people in 3d, music etc. I wanted to know if there is anything I can ask them for (like sounds for toad/wasp etc.). What do you think? Maybe some programming? I'm no expert here so I'm here to hear you out, what could we need?
Subject: Re: H3SW General Discussion 2017-11-15, 13:11
Some technical stuff seems really nice. The question is is it from vcmi only or can it be made for normal H3?
As for features, it will probably not be dor 0.8 if its something crazy and takes a lot of work. Orzie will surely clarify when ge sees this.
Overall good news! They do good work! More talented ppl is always better

I will leave a proper reply when I come home, but generally it's graphics (adventure map objects, you have seen the list) and 2D artwork (a work similar to your recent menu endeavor). We may need 3D modeling later for future versions, too, but I am unable to give any technical task by this moment because we need to finish common aspects of the mod first.
We may need some new sounds for the map objects (see The Succession Wars Mod/Tables/Updated sound test.xslx) to get rid of H3 sounds as much as we can. Sometimes they are okay, but sometimes they spoil the atmosphere.
We also need the music for the new castles: Witch and Dervish. However, the Dervish currently uses unused H2 "quasi-sand theme" and it's okay for v0.8, and the Witch castle is intended to have female opera vocal in German (I even have a candidate from my musical circles), and after all, I am really afraid that the musical track may not satisfy the style of the game and the people's work may go to waste. So, the Witch theme is likely to become my own headache.

The sounds that isn't changed to H2 sounds is because these sounds are used for different things and for instance the sound called H3 "Claim" sound is used for the entering sound for the objects Water Wheel and Lean-To, but in H2 the Water Wheel uses the H2 "Pling" sound/Treasure and the Lean-To uses the H2 "Recruit" sound/Expernce and thus I cannot simply change the H3 sound to either since it would play the wrong sound for the other object. Programming is needed, but I figured there are more important programming to be done

I think we should keep the Dervish theme. I find it very fitting and I can't imagine anything better than a unused town theme with a arabian styled sound to fit, but I guess there is no need to discuss it now. I just wanted to put it out

Is it possible to hear the dervish music? About mapmaking: im not desperate but I can upload here my homm3 map. it's small but think might be allright (learning fast this mapmaking, every map is better than the last) https://ln.sync.com/dl/bef6689c0#dnrhiwwn-dkcjfcwu-jsv7ndy7-n8tnfqjb

The Dervish music utilizes the alternative Sorceress theme from HoMM2 Millenium edition. This theme was later introduced by Paul Romero on his SoundCloud account as "HoMM2 unused Sand theme" or something like that, but it was later deleted from every source including YouTube.
Fortunately, it is still present on YouTube under the mask of "Sorceress theme" so Ubi copyright sentinels just overlooked it. Perhaps Ubisoft planned something for this theme.
In fact, it doesn't sound like HoMM2, it's more like a hybrid of H2 and H3 music in style with some MM7 vibe in it. Probably that's why it was not used.

Hi, will the HD+ features work in the 0.8? Such as combat replaying, recruit all button, etc.

All HD Mod functionality that did not belong to HD+ features should work. However, first we should ensure that and discuss things with baratorch, the creator of the HD Mod. Given that he currently is developing the HotA lobby, and given that we need a little more time to obtain a viable v0.8 beta candidate, this can take a while.
