Here some changes I have made to the game graphics, some for "aesthetics", and some to correct display "flaws". Uhm joined the party and also proposes changes.
Pack the files you want to add to the game with the Ironfist Tools in ironfist.agg or/and HEROES2.agg (Explanations here). You can also use this tool: Heroes II Extensions Engine, module "H2AGGReplace" (Replace any file in Heroes2.Agg with your own "on the fly"). You can now also place the English HEROES2.AGG and HEROES2X.AGG files directly in the "DATA" folder if you accept all the changes.

This is cool! I'm not seeing the creature changes in the file though.
Still want to evaluate it more closely to potentially include the less controversial changes in the game. In the meantime though, I'd like to host this as user-created content on the Ironfist website. May I have your permission?

For some files it's only 1 or 2 pixels, so look closely. A mistake is still possible, tell me the files you see no difference and I will check them.
Perhaps I will make some changes to the top of the helmet for the Champion (0008.bmp in MONS32.ICN), I find it still too flat.

There is no real "creativity" here, just some adjustments (who still take time for just a bunch of pixels), and I put them on the site to share them, so yes, you can do it.

Knight castle before. Look at the center flag behind the tower; and now the Upg. Archery Range is blue just like the Upg. Jousting Arena (red color for the base buildings, blue color for the upgraded buildings, same colors as the base creatures and upgraded creatures).

The scale of graphic improvement in H3SW is far more huge.

I am not sure whether swapping dwelling and it's upgrade is a good idea. They might have wrong sprite (or not ), but after so many years people get used to it Except this, great work! It makes H2 even closer to perfection and I hope it will draw people to Project Ironfist and modding of H2 in general

IF you want a challenge , try working on the adventure map castles. Adding some simple animation there would be a lot of fun. Even better(maybe imposible) add the same animation from the town screen when possible.

I did not need challenges, and it's not very complicated, you just need time (sometimes much) and patience, why not try yourself? Come join the projects!

I have not tried yet to play a game with the modified graphics, it will be for later, for now, I focus on the MYP. I must not give in to temptation...
But in any case good job!
For the Warlock castle, I had also done a test with these graphics for the Mage Guild, but I thought they were too "clear", too "contrasted", too "crisp", now players have the choice to try them both. Maybe I'll give them another try...
It would be nice to update your post (and the changelog file), to specify the bmp files changed in the different icn, with a brief description for each file, so it's easier to look at the changes.

A new option to integrate graphic changes in a slightly simpler way for those who do not like to "put their hands in the grind" ("mettre les mains dans le camboui" in french).
