One of my favourite pieces of Homm2 nostalgia is just looking at the menu screen .
However, I'm almost 100% sure that the version I played in the 90ies had a different music than the one I can find now on youTube or in the GoG version of Homm2.
Am I simply remembering it wrong or can anyone confirm this? And where can I listen to the original track?

I believe you may be thinking about the MIDI main menu track, which is a completly different theme than the classic mp3/CD main menu theme Here it is with various renderings:

For me, the real sound in my memory matches "Roland SC-55"
