By testing the latest unofficial version of "Ironfist 1.3.0+" from of January 3, 2019, I got heroes with negative experience values.

Scenario and save files: Hero XP negative 01.7z.

Almost nothing, I just sent Asha to the west and then Arya to the observation tower and I opened the screen of the hero Arya.
If you start the Betrayal scenario (New Game), you also get the same bug.

This bug would occur whenever you set a hero's experience in the map editor to a value greater than 127. It has been fixed.
