It depends on your taste Smile You can use one-, two- three-, etc.-square dwellings wherever you want. We need 2-square buildings for random map generator.

Well, for map conversions it's cool to keep them exactly as they were. Smile

I even think about making classic H2 dwellings to have accumulating creatures. This would be a fresh instrument for mapmakers.

That's because we used it as a 2-square dwelling substitute. Now I've put it to dropbox as a "avgwolf2.def/msk/msg". You should also update zeobjts.txt. After that, you will find orc post in a dirt objects Smile

Great work! I had a feeling it's gonna look like that(well, how else can you do it?) Still, looks simple and easy to grasp, I like it.

Is there still any need for people to convert the maps? I couldn't find an answer on neither forum(probably just don't know where to look for it). I can try doing it in my spare time.

We need map conversions, yes. Not new ones currently, but fixing the old ones after the large map object update.

Sir Albe, please upload the new maps to the folder I specified you before. It's empty currently so I cannot convert anything to standard formats.

(and screens saved in the game's /screenshot/ folder)

It's a "screenshot way" I would love to see in Heroes games... Do you think it's possible someday in H3SW ? Smile

Sorry for not putting the fixed maps in the new folder Orzie. I hadn't noticed it before. Anyway, I am currently working on "Who am I?" map from H2, so any other H2 map than that one (and the three ones fixed already) is still needed.

They have different formats, that is the key. I've received an updated version of map converter by potmdehex which allowed me to convert maps from WoG to RoE. So that, all our maps from different games now are distributed via former H3 map versions.

So that, when you will finish your Who am I? map, please report immediately so that we will be able to coordinate efforts. The maps lose some objects after conversion, so they should be revised a little. But as you can see, it is absolutely worth it. I am amazed by this feature myself. Just imagine how many people will be able to feel nostalgic.

It sure seems like a great feature, but won't maps with RoE format miss some game play elements? I mean can for instance Dervish class be used on such maps?

For what purpose you need Dervish on H1 maps, actually? No, you cannot play as Dervish there. We may manually restrict all factions except Knight, Barbarian, Sorceress and Warlock if we wish.

But perhaps there are some workarounds, I'll ask the ones who know.

Well, one of the things that I think is cool having "old" maps in the mod is that you can play maps you know, but with new stuff from H3SW. For instance H2 maps are quite interesting with Witch and Dervish in them imo.
