Yesterday on Behemoth's Lair was posted an amazing news: 20 new scenarios of the biggest size were added to the Mapmakers' Crypt! They're all the work of Huntka. 4 of them are single scenarios, while the rest are grouped in a 4 campaigns. From what I've seen, some of them contain well-developed plot in English, and some of them are written in Polish. Check by yourself and have fun!

That's fantastic! I was seeking for something like that when I will miss H2 gameplay. Someone who tries these maps, please write your impressions in this topic.

I am especially interested in the maps which feature a developed plot. That was always my weakness in H2 scenarios, especially those coming with GOLD edition.

According to what we can see in description, there are at least 3 maps allowing multiplayer.

Lightbringers I – Nasz sojusz musi rozprawić się z siłami zła nadciągającymi z północy.
Lightbringers II –Dobra mapa dla fanów rozgrywki w stylu RPG, opierającej się na rozwoju jednego bohatera i jego walce z całym złem tego świata.
Lightbringers III – mapa w klasycznym stylu pokonania wrogów, na co mamy rok, z małym smaczkiem w postaci Lady Sellith.
Lightbringers IV – Jest to wyzwanie z taktycznego punktu widzenia, gdyż musimy zdecydować czy umocnić swą pozycję, czy uciec za morze. Wróg ma odczuwalną przewagę rozwojową i trzeba kombinować.
Lightbringers V – Walka z głównym złym, to jest Alkatarem, który zaszył się wewnątrz góry zapomnienia. Oczyszczenie sobie drogi do niego nie nastręcza trudności, ale sama walka jest bardzo wymagająca.
Lightbringers VI – Rozgrywka w stylu „Król Wzgórza”. Naszym zadaniem jest opracowanie obrony rozległego imperium elfów atakowanego z każdej strony.
Lightbringers VII – Fabularny finał, w którym przyjdzie nam zmierzyć się z synem Alkatara na pięknej zimowej mapie.

The Legends – seria czterech map, których fabuła opiera się na wyprawie na tajemniczy kontynent i walce ze smoczym królem.
The Legends I - Mapa jest wymagająca i czasochłonna, należy dobrze przemyśleć każdy ruch, gdyż strata naszej bohaterki oznacza klęskę, a wrogowie są niezwykle nachalni.
The Legends II – Start jest nietypowy, gdyż musimy uciekać przed armią smoków i znaleźć schronienie na wyspach. Dobra mapa dla lubiących piracką politykę i kontruderzenia z morza.
The Legends III - Naszym zadaniem jest niedopuszczenie do śmierci księcia Orlyna, uwięzionego w samym sercu państwa czarnoksiężników. Pomaga naw w tym kilku agentów.
The Legends IV – Zakończenie serii od początku rzuca nas na głęboką wodę i musimy szukać sobie siedziby na ziemiach naszej sojuszniczki, królowej elfów. Należy działać szybko, ponieważ kiedy nasz wróg uwolni Smoczego Władce wszystko będzie stracone.

The Paladins – zbiór dwóch map połączonych motywem walki dobra ze złem.
The Paladins I – wybieramy pomiędzy Czarodziejem, Rycerzem i Czarodziejką i stawiamy czoła siłom zła.
The Paladins II – Obfita mapa, na której ważne jest szybkie zjednoczenie skłóconych ze sobą państw, w celu pokonania Czarnoksiężników.


P.S. Hell, you're a damn lucky person if you can play H2 with your girlfriend! I wish mine shared my passion for the game. We would receive a professional 2D/3D artist and designer in this case. lol

Short review:
Beautiful, wisely designed map. It's not that hard, but mines are rarely than usual and guarded by tough guards. Probably it could be a bigger trouble on a higher difficulty, were we gain less resources. Many dwellings of a neutral creatures allow us to experiment with new strategies. The only shortcoming is that computer also has less resources, so his progress is noticeably slower. Final score 8/10.

"The Barbarian Uncle Ivan decides to return to his motherland and repay his debts. To do this, he engages in a mission of returning dwarven Holly Hammer to a priests of the god of war, Zulfein. He get along to the Hall of Hammers - great dwarven armory located in a mountains. Unfortunately, without knowledge of a password he cannot aquire longed-for weapon. Meanwhile, the other heroes, most of them knowing password, also head out to the Hall of Hammers. You have to stop them from taking the hammer until you will discover the password by yourself. Good luck."

My results (Expert difficulty):

Short review:
Pleasing to the eye, satisfying map. Probably the only map, where we can claim more gold mines than sawmills and than ore mines taken together Razz Instead, the map is covered with a dense web of labirynths, full of monsters and resources. In the late game I still didn't have many mines, so everyday I was exchanging my gold for the rest of treasures. The Holly Hammer is hidden literally behind every single tree and rock, but getting it isn't that easy as it looks Razz

I was a bit irritated with an enemy Heroes, which were all the time coming out off  the one-way teleports (yes, here we can find a new type of them Razz ). But even more irritating was the fact, that they were trying to go back through the same teleporters, which were guarded by a legions of black dragons. Of course all of them died immediately, but they were still trying, even when I wasn't chasing them .This way computer was loosing a terrible amount of his armies. Also, AI had a trouble with too few mines on a map, and didn't have resources to build a castles in the most of conquered villages.

That's why I've decided to give Hammer of God a bit lower grade; map would be really great, but computer is transparently weaker on this map, so the final note is 8,5/10.

Just to let you know that I was unable to download the files linked to OneDrive. The links to the pages work, but it's not possible to download the file on the page.
But it's always possible to download the maps directly from Behemoth's Lair.

It really warms my heart to know that someone is developing maps for Heroes 2 in 2017. This is what I hope to support with all the Mapmaking Guild section, and pretty sure GodRage will be happy to know that his Lands of Enroth work on the map search system may be pretty useful even in these troublesome times.

I wish Huntka himself was interested in joining this community so he could make comments on his maps, too.

@Orzie I was thinking about a little "cleaning" in the Mapmaking Guild. Most of the maps are taken straight from Age of Heroes and nobody checked them. I will bring some interesting maps, but before I will pu them here, I want to check them first Wink

I am also very eager to meet Huntka, but unfortunately he (she?) didn't upload his maps personally, but they were all added to Behemoth's Lair collection by Fimrys.

Well, I would delete most of the threads containing maps from Age of Heroes, but keep those of highest quality maps, giving them new, refreshed threads with at least short specifications. I will be looking for a new maps all around the Internet, but currently I know that only Behemoth's Lair and HeroesPortal.net from time to time receive new maps. I hope that our users will also add their favourite scenarios as well as provide a new ones Wink

I am going to add more older scenarios in the future if time permits.

I really like the way you present each map with the description and everything.
It should becomes the standard. Very Happy

It would also be nice to add a clarification as to whether the map is more oriented RPG or Strategy.

RPG: the player must make specific actions, somehow "mandatory" throughout the map to be able to finish the map. Predetermined actions to be performed and which can not be avoided: kill the Titan with 3 Peasants, go to this place, do this first then that, etc.

Strategy: the player has complete freedom to use his brain to achieve the final goal, nothing is imposed on him and he can decide or not whether to obtain the proposed benefits.

An idea for the maps in this thread.

Alright then, let's perform the actions Uhm suggests.

Concerning the gameplay, we can use "Standard" if a player has 1 hero and 1 castle and all gameplay is built over classic Heroes 2 gameplay. Full House map is also Standard.

Other options could be, for example, "Custom" if there are pre-defined armies (but not like Slugfest) and special conditions the player has to deal with, like with the THUNK scenario by Timothy Duncan from Gold edition official map list - that's what probably qualifies as an rpg element Unknown_Hero suggests, but there are other heroes who play it in a standard way. There could also be such options as "Puzzle" (Pandemonium), but I'm not entirely sure we need it.

I also like the review system you suggest.

Typical RPG or puzzle maps were created only for H3 and later Heroes games, there are not much of them for H2 and H1. Pandemonium is rather a "custom" map. I would add a category "multiplayer" for a typical tournament maps or standard maps with a well-balanced gameplay for all human players.

Yes, it can works. I would do it this way for more info.

Type: "Singleplayer" or "Multiplayer-Cooperative" (humans vs AIs) or "Multiplayer-Competitive" (balanced map for multiplayer) or "Multiplayer-Challenge" (not balanced map for multiplayer).

Gameplay Style: "Strategy" or "RPG" or "Strategy/RPG" (more Strategy oriented than RPG) or "RPG/Strategy" (more RPG oriented than Strategy).

Starting Conditions: "Standard" (classic Heroes 2 starting conditions) or "Custom" (pre-defined armies and/or special conditions).

Special: (for other specific info).
