It would be really cool feature, if we could switch between PoL and SW soundtrack (and maybe also MIDI?). Currently we've got PoL tracks, but I believe that many users (like me) was weaned on SW music. Orzie is thinking about disabling all WoG options, but maybe we could do a small exception? lol!

I has always played the version with the same music as in the mod currently, so I personally don't need a switch, but it seems that it would make many people happy. Orzie have made a topic about it (I think...) on the DF2 forum: http://forum.df2.ru/index.php?showtopic=33250
Maybe Orzie can enlighten us a bit about it Smile

What I thought is putting SW themes as defaults.

We are not going to remove options completely, we think about the minimod concept for Era mod manager. But still there can be a possibility to add music/interface change in the game settings panel itself. Feanor knows more about such things.

You guys should definitely stick with the SW soundtrack. I changed the .ogg files manually in the PoL expansion because the new soundtrack was really bothering me.
The optional switch would obviously be the best choice.

Since Paul Romero has recently uploaded great gaming tracks from the early days he was recording stuff for heroes of might and magic and might and magic franchises, I think it is a great opportunity to at least consider including at least some of those tracks here and there. Right?

In my opinion, some of the early opera stuff from Heroes 1, are simply too great to not include at least as optional choices. At least consider it. ^^ I don't imagine anyone would play homm1 any more, so it's really more than sad if those great tracks are never used again.

PS: After all those years, and listening to all homm soundtracks more than hundreds of times, I still think that the most perfect one as a whole, is the one from homm2. To be completely honest, there's some great tracks in the other games as well, but 2 is pure harmony from start to finish. None can beat that.

I have some SW and PoL midi converted to mp3.
And I like PoL midi castle themes.
With opera I can't leave a running game for some minutes - music starts to annoy me fast. I tried it in Heroes 4.
And SW... Have never heard it before cause I gained at first the PoL and only then a soundcard. SW soundtracks make me think of villainous spellcasters, dirty cities, tired soldiers, razed villages, greedy commanders/lords and all this "tragedy of war" from dark fantasy. For me this is very far from H2. (Cause for me H2=/=MM6)

Any chance to have PoL midi analogue castle themes?

When the release is out, you can simply replace the themes with the ones you prefer (midi-to-mp3, PoL opera, whatever). It will not be hard to perform such an operation.
In far future, where we can consider the minimod system (using the native functionality of Era platform), a special minimod with PoL music may appear.
