I actually wanna help with pixel and concept art. I don't know to make animations yet, but pixel art is fairly easy. As I have spare time now, I will work on making pixels and improving my skills. I will show my progress (I've never made pixel art before). Before I start, I just need to know if you need me and want a fresh-men do stuff for the mod.

I think it's a good place to put together all pixel art, that we're in need for v0.8:

1. Elf dwelling standing on two hex.

2. Black knight dwelling
3. All monster miniatures on an adventure map repacked
4. A new school of magic
5. Enlarged/new school of war

8. Helping with preparing 44x44 artifacts icons

Not that important right now:
1. Preparing battlefield obstacles
2. New battlefields for terrain overlays
3. Walls + siege battlefields
4. Tons of animations for new units
5. Remaking townscreens in 800x600 with a new buildings

I can give all important informations and resources for every volunteer interested in working with us, but of course you can make something completely new, if you feel that SWmod absolutely needs it Wink

Nobody said that it will be easy Razz

From what I've seen on df2.ru currently Morbidus works on artifacts. There's still a lot to do, so if you are interested, they should look like that:

but if you need it in some specific format, I can look for it, we've got .act and .txt for sure.

As for tutorials, I was also looking for them on the Internet, but none of them is meant specifically for heroes. I would suggest you to start with remaking some of existing bitmaps from the other games (Orzie doesn't have to know XD) or M&M series. You could also try sketching, but you have to be very patient Razz I will ask Orzie about Might and Magic 3-5 resources, we've got on dropbox some nice looking images, that can be used further.

I actually have got tutorials written by myself, but they are only in Russian for now. Probably, I will find time and inspiration to translate/update them properly a little later.

I would really like to have some material to work on. Currently I'm drafting creeper (possibly new creature). Also, who is the main graphic and where should I ask for help?

We don't have main graphic. We're adding remaining graphics or making something we would like to have in-game and if it doesn't face with opposition, it will appear in Mod. Your sketch has good proportions, but creatures' overall form is a puzzle for me. I must warn you, that currently we've got enough creatures, so if you really want to make completely new one, you will have to do it alone. I believe Dr Slash can give you some advices, as he prepared many static unit forms, as well as fully animated pirate.



Moreover, I think you should see this, it can be quiet usefull Wink

Are you planning your own campaigns to boot with, or include later on? As Heroes 3 built differently, are you planning to pull in-between map cutscenes? Those would require some voice overs, to make it H2 wise as much as possible. Smile

The campaigns will be probably H3-styled, but voiceovers are a valuable addition. Yet, we plan to concern campaigns for later releases, which are somehow postponed - right now we need to finish more basic things.

But hey, it's very nice to hear from you. I actually have some experience in voiceovers too and I know how it is hard to make an artistic feel, especially when English is not the mother tongue.

Nice work, Geckatonheyr! Although I don't think we currently need any changes to existing HoMM2 creatures. One thing we need the most right now are creature animations, so any help with those would be very welcome. In cae you are willing to try your hand at animating units, you could start with the Tribal:
We already have drafts of walk and death animations, but we are still missing animations of him attacking in three directions, an idle animation and him getting hit.



If you'd prefer to work with static sprites, you could look into improving the current concept of Treant (tier 6 Witch creature).

Yep, something like this . It`s a pity but i'll try to take all frames. Btw, do you need a small tribal for non-combat screen?

You can just open gif files in Photoshop and it will put all the frames on separate layers.

We actually have the PSD for the Tribal's Death animation. You just asked the wrong person. Smile
