PostSubject: Project Ironfist won't run after installation   2015-07-21, 06:18

Hi,

I am very interested in your project, and recently I've tried to install it, but it won't run.
My OP is Windows 7 64 bit and I have HOMM2 Gold, GOG version (I play through DOSBOX since the Windows version of HOMM2 won't run on a 64-bit system).

What can you suggest me to do? Again, I'd really like to experiment with this great tool and I've even begun
designing a sprite for a new creature...

Hello!

Sorry for the delay; I've been traveling the last few weeks. Thanks a lot for your interest. I will make sure we get this working for you.

I have heard one report from a user of Polish Windows 7 that the game would not run because the installer placed the files in the wrong place. That is, instead of placing ironfist.exe in something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Heroes of Might and Magic II", it placed it in something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Heroes of Might and Magic II\Heroes of Might and Magic II". If that is the case, then moving all of Project Ironfist's files to the correct folder will fix it -- and please tell more about where various files are if this is your situation, so I can fix the installer. I have tested with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8, but, being from the US, I only have easy access to the English versions of each OS.

If that is not the case, then please tell me in what manner you are trying to run Project Ironfist, and what happens when you do.

(I will also be E-mailing you in case you don't see this.)

It works!
I actually feel really silly about this, but the problem was indeed caused by trying to install it in the wrong directory.
Thank you!

Great! To be clear, was it simply a matter of reinstalling and telling the installer to use a different directory, or did you need to manually moved things to a different directory?
